Brought to you by DWC, this training program is designed as a general orientation course to inform workers in general industry about their rights; their employers’ responsibilities; how to file a complaint; and how to identify, abate, avoid, and prevent job-related hazards. Emphasis is on incident prevention.

Classes cover specific OSHA standards and requirements as they apply to general industry, and safety awareness to help recognize and reduce the risks of on-the-job hazards. Topics include:

  • Introduction to OSHA

  • Safety and health programs

  • Exits, emergency action plans, and fire prevention plans

  • Walking-working surfaces

  • Electrical safety

  • Hazard communication

  • Personal protective equipment

  • Machine guarding

  • Materials handling

  • Bloodborne pathogens

Participants who successfully complete the two-day course will receive an OSHA 10-Hour General Industry class completion card (typically within six to eight weeks).
