Designated Doctor Certification Training

  • Two day interactive training course for Designated Doctors to learn the administrative requirements for Designated Doctors; how to determine extent of injury (EOI); use the Official Disability Guidelines to determine Maximum Medical Improvement (MMI); address return-to-work issues using MDGuidleines (MDG); observe demonstration of musculoskeletal exam procedures; and review cases for determining maximum medical improvement (MMI) and impairment rating (IR).

Maximum Medical Improvement/Impairment Rating Certification Training

  • One day interactive, case based training course focused on maximum medical improvement (MMI) and impairment rating (IR).

General Information

  • Designated doctors, doctors authorized to certify maximum medical improvement/impairment rating and ancillary health care providers must attend this training every two (2) years. Doctors of medicine (MD), doctors of osteopathic medicine (DO), and doctors of chiropractic medicine (DC) will earn continuing medical education (CME) credits by attending this training. Please note that the annual TBCE required hours for Ethics, Recordkeeping, Documentation and Coding, and Risk Management are no longer offered at the certification training.
  • Certification or recertification as either a designated doctor or MMI/IR authorized doctor requires a certificate of successful completion. Applicants must attend all required classes on the agenda in their entirety to receive a certificate of successful completion. Applicants must make travel arrangements that accommodate attendance to all required classes in their entirety.
