Designated Doctor and MMI/IR Required Certification Training

  • Two day interactive training course for Designated Doctors and MMI/IR Certifying Doctors to learn case-based concepts for determining maximum medical improvement (MMI) and impairment rating (IR). It is imperative that you work the pre-course cases before attending the webinar modules. You will need the Guide to Evaluation of Permanent Impairment, Fourth Edition, published by the American Medical Association (AMA Guides) to work the cases.

  • Required Certification Training Materials and Pre-Course Cases

General Information

  • Designated doctors, doctors authorized to certify maximum medical improvement/impairment rating and ancillary health care providers must attend this training every two (2) years. Doctors of medicine (MD), doctors of osteopathic medicine (DO), and doctors of chiropractic medicine (DC) will earn continuing medical education (CME) credits by attending this training. Please note that the annual TBCE required hours for Ethics, Recordkeeping, Documentation and Coding, and Risk Management are no longer offered at the certification training.

  • Certification or recertification as either a designated doctor or MMI/IR authorized doctor requires a certificate of successful completion. Applicants must attend all required classes on the agenda in their entirety to receive a certificate of successful completion.
